You can not not. This is what Alliances is meant to fix. That is why the 2.5-year old announcement thread of that 6-year old project is constantly updated by players in this forum and mostly why WvW players seem unhappy in every other exchange with players in this game. We can not play with our friends who are now scattered over numerous servers. we're in the middle of a WvW restructuring beta, which features an automatic matchmaker/teammaker. if you are currently not already on your guild's team, then you won't be able to play with them, until this Friday's reset. that's when WvW goes back to the server-based system, and presumably you're on the same server as your guild, you'll be able to play with them.

24.6k. Posted September 28, 2017. There is no way to join a Full Server. You can check after WvW resets and/or match-ups to see if the population has changed. You could temporarily join a Server that is matched-up with your friends' Server, but, as indicated, that would only be a temporary 'fix'. Welcome to Tyria, and good luck.

When a new raid comes out, the Mythic difficulty is locked to server-specific groups until it's been cleared by 100 groups on each faction. After that, the restriction is lifted and you can raid Mythic with cross-server groups. All lower difficulties (LFR, Normal, Heroic) are cross-server from day one. I think that's about it for restrictions.

Currently (as far as I know) there are only two instances in which your server choice impacts your ability to play with others. 1) World vs World. You can only play with your server in WvW (and the servers linked to yours). If you want to play with friends consistently you'll need to be on their server. **HOWEVER.
