Does the 2003 Civic (EP2) 1.6 petrol (engine code D16V1) have a timing chain or belt? If belt it is recommended changing it every 75,000 miles / 8 years. The car is very low mileage at only 20k.
Step 9 – Remove the lower timing belt cover. This will need to be removed to gain complete access to the side where the belt and water pump will be replaced. Remove approximately five 10mm bolts. Loosen the tensioner's 14mm bolt. Remove the lower timing belt cover. Figure 13.
