You need to manually evade and block/parry every attack, so if someone is behind you, you can no longer just press a button and rely on the game to quickly turn your character around. This makes scenarios where you are fighting multiple enemies, tricky. Which is why IMO stealth is more important than ever. Hide in a pile of hay/leaves/flowers/etc., which you can do in every single game; 2.) Hide among crowds (which you can only do from AC2 to Syndicate) or specific groups such as monks (something which returned in Valhalla but was absent in Origins and Odyssey); and 3.) Hide in bushes and underbrush, which you can do in every game from AC3 onward. Use Smoke to break line of sight and catch a breather, or to flank them for more bleeding combos.
